The American Airlines Abilities Employee Business Resource Group, in collaboration with the HollyRod Foundation and AT&T, SENSE Lab at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Autism Society of Middle Tennessee, Down Syndrome Association of Middle Tennessee, and Down Syndrome of South Central Kentucky, Will be hosting a travel rehearsal event designed to alleviate some of the stress that families who have a child with autism and/or intellectual or developmental disabilities experience when traveling by air. It will be realistic and provides families with the opportunity to practice entering the airport, obtaining boarding passes, going through security, and boarding the plane. Boarding will take place at 5:15 p.m., aircraft taxi on the tarmac at 5:30 p.m., and deplaning at 6:00 p.m. This event is complimentary and is limited to the first 130 participants that register. Family members who would normally travel with your child are welcome to participate. Registration will close at close of business day, Tuesday, Sept. 10. When responding please include the number of adults, number of children, names of all attending, gender (male or female), and dates of birth. This information is needed for TSA clearance. All adults will need a Government issued I.D. to clear TSA Security the day of the event. Feel free to bring any items that your child would normally take on a flight to help ensure a successful experience (i.e. iPads, talkers, service dogs, sensory items, blankets, ear plugs, headphones, books, etc.).
