Ways To Help

Thank You for Your Interest
in Supporting DSAMT!

When you help DSAMT, you’re not just changing the life of one individual or even just changing the lives of those with Down syndrome. You’re helping the entire Middle Tennessee community.

We support inclusion and acceptance in our community, schools, churches, the workforce - everywhere!  We bring value, and help build a better community for everyone. We help the community better understand the extraordinary gifts that those with "something extra" bring to our lives and to our communities, and, in doing so, we improve the lives of everyone.

DSAMT trains educators, providing new tools they might not otherwise have access to. We help physicians, nurses, and other healthcare practitioners provide better care to their patients and better understand their needs and those of their families. We help businesses improve diversity in employment and improve their accessibility.

Improving the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and their families enriches the entire community. We’re glad you’re here to help.

Nashville Buddy Walk

The Down Syndrome Association of Middle Tennessee (DSAMT) organizes the Nashville Buddy Walk® to celebrate and support individuals with Down syndrome and their families and to promote understanding and acceptance of those with Down syndrome. Approximate 5,000 participants from Middle Tennessee are expected at this year’s Buddy Walk®, making it the largest Down syndrome awareness event in the state and our primary source of funding for our programs.  This year it will be hosted at The Hermitage on November 4, 2017.

Even better, Pepe's with a Purpose gives a donation for every kit sold to DSAMT.

DS Awareness License Plate

Earlier this year, our state legislature passed a bill to authorize a Down syndrome awareness license plate. We must have 1,000 sold BEFORE they will go into production.  Enough plates weren't purchased by June 30th, 2017 - so we'll be getting an extention.

A Celebration of Life

At the heart of DSAMT and our community is a love and celebration of all life.  As parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts & uncles and friends, we celebrate together every time a new baby is born, learns to walk, rides a bike, goes to prom, etc.  Our community also comes together to support each other when our children go through surgeries, have difficulties in school or encounter obstacles in life.   But never will you see the intense connection, fierce support and unconditional love of our Down syndrome community as when one of our children passes away.
